Flows (in)Flow:
Transience, Migration, Memory
The 3rd BLACK BIENNIAL incorporates into its discourse the (de)institutionalization of traditional cultural spaces - alluding to the process of breaking down and restructuring practices, norms, and hierarchies that have traditionally defined how cultural spaces operate and are perceived. To achieve this goal, the city of Rio de Janeiro has been selected by the Black Biennial to engage with the decolonial discourse of artistic practices in a group exhibition scheduled to take place from March to May 2024. Themed "Flows (in) Flow: Transience, Migration, and Memory," this collective exhibition aims to foster a sensitive and reflective dialogue on the stories, experiences, and contributions of various artists and their involvement into the Brazilian cultural scene, while also addressing narratives of gender and race.
